Sigh... The screen is made up of three layers:
- the glass, which protects everything
- the digitizer, which picks up your touch
- the AMOLED display, which displays everything
The digitizer and display must be accurately aligned or it'll record touch events somewhere other than where you think you're looking.
And to top it off this stuff is glued together, so when taking it apart you're just as likely to break the bad component as you are to break a good component.
