Hi there,

I've just purchased my 6th tempered glass screen protector for my about 3mos old V30. #3 was a Fosmon brand although was more like cheap plastic and showed fingerprints badly (greasy looking) after just a few weeks at least it stuck to the screen and was case friendly. When it cracked I tried a couple of other brands still hoping to find better but none would stick to the screen and were returned.

So, I ordered the same Fosman I had before only this time it's not case friendly nor is it sticking to the screen and so I have air between the screen and the protector. I can hear clicking sounds and the touch screen usability is pretty much non-existent. I'm probably going to have to remove it but would prefer something over nothing until I get a replacement.

I don't understand what's so freaking hard for the manufacturers to get this right. It's ridiculous! Curved screens are no longer new but no matter how great they're rated on Amazon they are just not working for me. I'm good at putting on the darn things, so it's not like I don't know what I'm doing.

So, now I've decided NO MORE and feel I have no other choice so just going to get a regular screen protector. I'm not up for spending bookoo bucks because none of them are permanent - they all need replacing now and then. I don't want to mess with the kind that's like a skin encasing the entire phone either. I would not do well installing something like that and I also want better protection against drops.

Your valued feedback and recommendations are appreciated. Thanks so much.

Deb

Curved screens might not be new but it's not an easy thing to replicate in cheap glass (unless you're willing to pay for the 'real deal', which many aren't and doesn't make sense from a commercial standpoint). It's been said over and over and over: tempered glass protectors for curved screens are NOT great.

I personally use IQ Shields on my phones and so far so good. They stick perfectly to the phone, I don't see any fingerprint marks, but yeah, they won't save my screen from much other than scratches. No 'free lunch', unfortunately. You want extra protection? Tempered glass with a poor fit and rainbow effects are the way to go (that and extra-bulky, touch-interfering cases). You want something slicker and still offer a degree of protection? Get a GOOD thin-film protector.

I can deal with a poor fit and rainbows. What I can't deal with is a fit so poor with air between the screen and protector that I have little or no use of touch. I couldn't answer my phone or text etc. the other day.

Like SpookDroid and a lot of the techies here we've given up on glass protectors. Truthfully they don't really protect the screen from cracking except in minor instances. I use the plastic film type which actually work pretty good and I'm satisfied with scratch protection. If my screen breaks I use the insurance. I've never broken a phone screen yet and I've dropped all of my phones quite a few times.
Get a good case that has a lip to help protect the screen and film and you're good to go.

I've had smartphones since the original moto droid. I've never used a screen protector and have never has a single scratch or mark.

Yeah...my iPhone doesn't have any scratches but my V20 got a scratch within a week of taking off the protector. I have older phones without a scratch but I'd rather have some protection. Not taking a chance with my Pixel 2 XL.
