Screen protector or not?

So, I have a love hate relationship with these things on my cell phone. With the Gorilla glass and the thought in the back of my mind that I just spent $500 on this thing and couldn't be anything but careful, I am asking myself if I should bother with a protector. It seems to ruin the touchscreen experience and just changes the quality of the image.

How does everyone else feel about them?

Well, I ordered a case for mine so the screen will be protected when I'm not using it and unlike a phone I obviously won't be carrying a Prime in my pocket so I think I'll skip the screen protector.

Although nails, coins, and other like objects may not scratch the glass, grit like sand and dust, when wiped with a cloth or pushed and brushed against the glass can. There is an article about it somewhere in these forums. I'm getting a protector asap, as I already have a small scratch on mine.

My personal opinion is as long as you have something to protect it in situations where it may be in close proximity with objects that would rub against it (such as having it in a suitcase while traveling) there is no need for a screen protector. With a phone I can understand having a screen protector because of it constantly is going in and out of pockets and who knows what could be in pockets that could scratch a screen such as coins, keys, bits of sand, etc... That being said, my Sprint Epic 4G has been without a screen protector for over a year, has been dropped more times then I care to admit, and without carefully examining a freshly cleaned screen under a bright light, there are no scuffs or scratched to be found.

A screen protector isn't going to do anything to prevent a shattered screen from dropping it, so if that is a concern I would go with a case to provide some padding.

I just have a case on much Epic 4G Touch and that seems to nw fine. I love how it looks without a s screen protector. :)

I slapped an anti-glare protector on mine, more for the anti-glare aspect than for the protection aspect, though I do think that some protection is still necessary, even on Gorilla Glass. Only downside is that because the screen is so large, it's a lot harder to get one on without trapping dust or air bubbles than it is on a 4 inch phone.

I just installed a skinomi shield to mine and just within a couple of hours, it is just about completely clear of bubbles.
