Screen randomly stops turning off

I have my screen set to timeout after 1 minute. I can't pinpoint when; however, relatively recently the screen seems to randomly not shut off. Once it starts happening, I have to reboot to get it to work again. When the screen doesn't shut off, it even remains on when I fold the phone. Any ideas what could be causing this?

inner screen when unfolded will turn black and had to be hard-rebooted. Keep the phone unfolded then rebooting will result in the normal function of the inner screen, same thing applies to the outer screen, thus any folding/unfolding activity will shut both screen black.

Do you have extended unlock enabled?

Great suggestions, thank you! I don't have extended lock on; however, I do have keep screen on while viewing. I just toggled that off to see if that helps and will report back.

UPDATE: After turning off the keep screen on while viewing, I am still having this issue randomly.

Do you use modes and routines?

Long press the power button until power off displays on the screen then long press the power off on the screen until it says Safe mode and tap
Thank you again. Just prior to putting it in safe mode, it wasn't turning off at all. However, while in safe mode it is working as expected. I'm wondering if this is telling me to do a factory reset or do you suggest something else to try?
