screen sensitivity

Please i need help, my samsung s3 mini is selecting some options on its on before i do the selection. what can be the problem and how can it be solved? am using the phone for the first time.

Do you mean when your finger is nowhere near the screen, or when it's hovering over the screen but not actually touching it?
