Screen Sensitivity

Hi all,

Recently purchased the Pixel 2 XL and was using the Note 8 previously. I have been using the Pixel for about 2 days and in that time it has occurred to me that the screen is lacking in sensitivity.

An occurrence seems to happen too regularly for me to dismiss it as nothing. Too many times I will need to "hit" an app or something on the screen to enable it, too many times it seems my touching the screen results in nothing happening. I have a Note8 and this is something I can remember never occurring.

Does anyone else have experience in a lack of sensitivity on the screen, or could it possibly a faulty unit.

Thanks

Gav

This happens to me occasionally also, normally it is a side or corner button/link that I need to try 3 or 4 times for it to work. It seems that the touch needs to be super accurate.

No screen protector.

That sounds more like a touch detection issue than sensitivity. I have an IQShield plastic on mine and it can actually detect my finger just a hairs width away from the screen.

There are three aspects, detection, sensitivity and latency. I have yet to run into issues in any of the three on mine... In fact, I've found it to be extremely good with touch.

So it's a matter of trying to figure out what is going on with your screen. Have you tried one of the touch test apps from the Play Store? It may help isolate if it's an issue with the screen and always there, or something to do with the software. Run since tests when everything is going good, and again when not.

At first I felt like it was me and needed to adjust to the new phone and it's keyboard. But after having the phone for 10 days, I could not take it. I would have to tap the screen 2-3 times for it to register at all. Typing a text was a nightmare. Scrolling a page would jump around sometimes. I did factory resets before and after the latest update Google just pushed out, but with no help to the issue. What's weird is that right after a fresh factory reset, I swear the screen was great, and accurate. With out installing any apps, the sensitivity and accuracy became worse and worse. My 15 day return window was coming up, so I decided to send the phone back for a refund this morning. Hopefully in 6 months I can purchase another Pixel XL, and be problem free. I've spoke to Google many many times through chat or call. They don't know, or would they admit a issue with the phone. They said it sounds like a hardware issue. This was my only concern/problem with the phone. I hope this helps you. Good Luck

I use to have a screen sensitivity issue with my iPhone 7. Had to click the screen 2 or 3 times to get something to respond. Drove me nuts!

My Pixel 2 is far more responsive to touch. I have a Skinomi wet apply screen protector on this instead of the glass protector. But, I've had glass on it too and it made no difference.

Mine seems to respond fine.

Thanks for the response, and no I don't have a screen protector. Never use 'em, hate 'em. I'll give a re-boot a crack and failing that I spose more research with a possible exchange in the cards.

My suggestion would be to compare to an in store demo to see if there is a difference.
I have not noticed that on any including my own. If it persists and you think it's an issue return it

Some Pixel 2 XL touchscreens are unresponsive near the edges, but a fix is coming
