Recently got a new pixel 3 last week. Am happy how responsive phone is but very disappointed in battery life. I had pixel 2xl earlier which used to give me screen time of more than 5 hours. Now with pixel 3, am getting around 2 hrs 45 mins which is very disappointing (Installed exactly same apps and system didn't detect any rogue apps). Also, over the night and during idle times it is losing battery fast. What is the average screen time for pixel 3 you guys are seeing and how is the discharge during idle times?

The Pixel 3 wasn't the best battery but the phone is fantastic. Are you using dark theme or adaptive battery? Those two tricks really help. How long have you used it for? They do get better over time.

I have it for a week now. I set it up for adaptive brightness and with latest update, I configured dark mode auto schedule from Sunset to sunrise. How is your idle time battery discharge?

Check which app uses the most battery. It is typically an app issue, not necessary a rogue app but a badly designed app. Screen time is hardly a good measurement as bad apps can and do continue to drain your battery at the background.

I turn off the device at night @100%.around 11 pm. In the morning @6 30 am the battery level is 97 %.

I've not checked it overnight as I leave my phones plugged in but I am using it from morning around 6:30 AM till about 11:00 PM and I have 10-20% left at the end of the day. I'm super confident with the XL size to manage the entire day without issue.

Thanks for your responses. I will keep checking my battery stats to see if any app is using battery more than it should.

Being a current pixel 3 owner myself (I've had mine about 7 months) that is probably the biggest issue with the device. I think there's just something about the hardware that makes this thing eat the battery. I have no issues otherwise. Mine will eat 12-15% overnight, 3-4% if I turn on the battery saver. I've tried factory resets and I don't run many apps or games and mostly use Google services. It's just how his phone runs. My pixel 2 was the same way, not quite as bad but it ate the battery pretty hard as well. It's the one thing that's pushing me away from the pixel line. I get that if I use the phone a lot it's going to use battery, that's any of them. However what causes me anxiety is the fact that I can't trust this thing to not use battery when I'm not using it. Any phone is going to use a little sitting idle for hours but the pixel 3 is especially good at sucking down the juice.

Any updates on your situation, OP? Like the users above me have stated, it does take a little while for the Pixel's adaptive battery to adjust to your usage patterns. Hopefully you are getting longer battery life now!

Am getting a maximum of 3 and half hour screen time but discharge during idle times improved. Am losing not more than 6 to 7 percent over night.

Sounds like your SOT has improved a little bit! It was around 3 hours before, correct? That's a good discharging rate, IMO! Have you enjoyed using the phone otherwise? :)

Yes, screen time improved a bit and happy with idle times. Always loved the intelligence baked in pixel phones and the screen response is amazing. Using the small form factor after a long time is refreshing.

Yes, the Pixel 3 sure hit that size sweet spot! And I agree with you about its baked-in intelligence.

I haven't used mine as a daily driver in a while but whenever I did I was getting 4 to 5 hours sot and 4 to 5 hours talk time in a days usage. I would keep fiddling with it and see what you can do .

Never got even 4 hours SOT earlier. With Android 11 beta am getting 5+ hours consistently. This is great.

That's awesome. Makes me even more excited for Android 11.

Getting 4+ hours SOT with mine as of the moment (still using Android 10). Though these days are spent mostly at home, so I'm connected to wifi only.
