Hey everyone,

I tried searching for this topic but couldn't find any. Is the screen supposed to not turn on when you receive a message or email? I know I know, why would you want that when it would drain battery yada yada...but this is actually helpful for me b/c when I have my phone at my desk and it is plugged in, I can't tell if I have received anything until I turn on the screen.

Is there an option to turn this on or am I missing something?

Thanks!

I'd like that too.. Haven't really bothered checking for it, but it'd be nice if the screen flashed on for a second to let me quickly read it to decide if i wanna pursue replying to it or not.

Handcent SMS has that feature built in...or if you want to use the stock SMS use SMS popup!

That's just crazy that it can't do that...not a deal breaker but still nice to have. Cmon either give us the ability to have the charging LED and also a notification LED at the same time or have an option to turn on the screen ableit even a few seconds.

Oh well...still LOVE MY EVO!

I'm bumping this because this has really been bugging me. A friend of mine with an incredible was sitting next to me at dinner tonight and his would wake up every time a message came in. I don't know if HTC missed something in the code, or if there's something I don't have enabled, but I'd really like this feature.

It really puzzles me how different two phones can be that are made by the same company. I don't think Sprint told HTC to not let the screen turn on when a message comes in. I was just talking to my friends about this tonight, I kinda miss the screen coming on. This comes in handy when I have the Evo mounted in my RS Navigation car adapter thingy I have stuck to the windshield. If the screen were to turn on, I could quickly unlock the screen and check the message and even reply while on a traffic light.

Another weird difference between the two,.... Google Earth doesn't show up in the Android Market for the Incredible, at least it didn't used to.

I just never realized how much I miss the screen turning on until it didn't do it anymore. Every phone I've had for the last 8 years has done it until this one. I hope HTC (or somebody) comes up with a fix for this.
