Screen turning off when facing downward

My MAXX's screen turns off prematurely when the phone is above my head and facing downward. I'm on 4.4 and it did this before updating. I don't frequently use it in this position but it's annoying. Anyone else?

i tried it and it hasnt done it too me im still on 4.2.2 though also make sure you arent covering up the proximity sensor in the top left corner or the screen will shut off because it thinks the phone is in your pocket thus turning the screen off hover your fingure over the sensor for a couple of seconds while navigating through the phone you will see what i mean
