Screen turns black when making/receiving a call (using Zefie's CM7 ROM)

I've read about the problem happening to some Motorola Droids but the thread seems to have died off without a real solution. I've tried hitting the power button and it still doesn't help. This happens every time I make or receive a call so it's nearly unbearable needing to pull the battery every time a call is made or received! The other thread mentioned it may be a dirty proximity sensor. Could someone please tell me where our proximity sensor is on the Optimus V? Any other help would be greatly appreciated as well! Thanks.

The sensor is located on the upper left corner, to the left of the virgin mobile logo.

I too had this problem, the only way to "solve" it was to go back to stock. People will say it's the phone, but I'm convinced that it's the ROMs that are the problem. Whenever I run a Gingerbread ROM, I get this problem; Froyo ROM gives no problems..

BUMP. I am having this same issue on froyo and gingerbread. I have a voicemail I cant delete even on a stock rom, because the screen basically dies when you answer a call. Removing the battery is the only fix I know so far.
