Screen turns off during speakerphone calls

Hi, I wanted to see if anyone else has found a fix to the speakerphone turning off during phone calls. I use my phone quite a bit for conference calls, and after 20-30 seconds the screen goes blank which requires a wake-up by pressing the home button. It's an annoyance when trying to quickly toggle the mute button, etc., and constantly having to wake up the screen. I don't remember this being an issue on my S7. Can't seem to find any settings that would help. Thanks!
