I want to press and hold on my home screen to add a widget, but every time I do the screen automatically turns off, so I have no way to alter my home screen through the press and hold. Has anyone else found this issue? Or could you try it and let me know if it happens to you too?

I don't know if I changed a setting and now it's doing that or if it's a bug in the phone.

ETA:
LG G7 ThinQ
Andriod ver 8.0.0
Should just have the default launcher.

Make and model of phone, version of Android and, if you know, the launcher you're using?

The same thing is happening to me right now and I don't know what to do, I was wondering if your ever got to fix this? And if so how?

I have tried this but it doesnt work for me. The screen still goes black when I try to add a widget or alter my homescreen. This also happens in SafeMode.

I have also tried to disable thel double-tab function but it doesn't seem to make a difference.

Lg g7 thinQ
Android ver.10
No 3rd party launcher.

Can u factory reset in recovery?

What do you mean with "recovery"? Wouldn't a factory reset mean that I lose all my settings/data, I'm not sure how to do this.
If they weren't backed up , yes, you lose your data and settings
