Screen won't turn on, restart leads to battery loss?

I've had my nexus 4 for a few months now, really digging it so far. The only issue I've come across is that sometimes the screen will randomly decide not to turn on. In order to get it working again I have to hold the power button for a good 5-10 seconds to shut it down, then press it once again to start it back up. Once it boots up again, there is a pretty significant drop in battery, anywhere from 10-25%.

I've tried resetting my phone back to factory settings, which worked for a while, but then the problem came back. I've attached a couple of screenshots of the drop in battery if anyone is curious. The problem isn't so much the battery drop (even though it's annoying) but just the fact that the phone won't turn on. Anyone know what might be causing this issue?

Thanks

Does the phone turn itself off or does this happen after you turn it off? Do you notice a pattern in what you were previously doing on the phone when it doesn't turn on? Does it simply not respond or does it just lag and take a minute or so to respond before turning on? I had a similar issue on my N7 but am not sure if the circumstances were the same.

I'm not sure whether or not the phone has actually turned itself off, but I believe it's still on, just unresponsive. In order to get it working again, I have to hold the power button for a good 10 seconds, wait, then press the power button again to start it up.

It happens just randomly throughout the day after it has been idle/asleep in my pocket or wherever. I haven't noticed any patterns in terms of what I was doing right before it happens. And it simply doesn't respond, doesn't matter how long I wait.

And yea, I'm thinking about calling up Google to see about a replacement, but I wanted to see if someone out there might know of a fix before I do that.

You could try plugging it into your computer or the mains to know if the phone is on or not

If a factory reset doesn't work, I'd say it's most likely a defective unit. There is still a small chance that it's a software bug but I highly doubt it.

Yea, if it happens again soon I'll try plugging it in to see if it's still on or not. Otherwise I might call Google, I was just trying to avoid sending away for a replacement phone if I could.

Just an update if anyone is experiencing similar issues. I called Google support today and was told that in order to fix this issue, all I had to do is go into the display settings and turn off the Daydream mode (which I never used anyway, didn't know it was on in the first place).
Hopefully that's all it takes to fix! Will post back if the issue continues.
