Screen won't turn on

I was thinking of taking a underwater selfie today and brought my phone to the pool but after the phone submerged into the water surface less than 10 second the screen turn crazy and turn off. I immediately take out the battery cover and the battery and check that there is no sign of liquid in the protected area. After awhile i tried to turn on the phone but it only vibrate and the screen won't turn on. Anyone have similar experience and solution to this except for the rice method?

The phone isn't waterproof, it's just water resistant.

Do your best to try and dry it out.
