Try this... Go into your Google app settings. Then 'Settings' under the Google Assistant section. Under 'Devices' click on 'Phone'. In there, is 'Use Screen Context' checked or unchecked? If unchecked, check it and retry.

Hmm... You're in the new ui... It should be there. You could always go in and reset all the Google app data and have it reinitialize. If you use the Google now launcher, you'll lose your homescreen settings, but that's about it.

You need to be on something other than the home screen for that setting to show up.

I just added the screen shot button to the home touch buttons. This makes it very easy to take a screen shot.

Use Capture+ either from pull down menu or after adding to Nav bar..pretty easy..no need for all the jugglery. You can even capture part of the screen by folding up the capture+ menu

At first I had the capture + enabled in my home touch buttons. But I kept hitting it by accident and would suddenly find myself looking at a screenshot that I could draw on. Or I'd pull the phone out of my purse and find a well scribbled on screen shot that I had to get rid of before using the phone. I know, lock the phone before you put it away dummy, but still very annoying. But it is nice in the notification shade.
