Screwed, can I recover?

I bought a LG G2 phone from a guy for 150. Long story short, cause he owes so much I can't switch the phone over to my line. Is there a way to get around this? If so, can you point me towards it?

None legal, it's blacklisted on Sprint and will never work on Sprint.

The only solution would be pay off his bill.
