I've had my Pixel 2 for almost two years and I don't use a case. I keep my phone in my pocket most of the time.

I've noticed the back camera lens is starting to get some decent scuff marks on it and I feel like it's affecting my photos.

Any simple at home tips to get rid or buff out a bit of the scuffs??

Thanks.

It's been suggested that you can get it buffed out. Most regular cameras have a special coating on the lens. I'm not sure if these lenses are coated, however if they are you would lose the coating.

Based on some brief research the lenses would have at least an antireflective coating.

So would you suggest I not get it buffed from a watch repair shop like was suggested above?

It may take out the scratches but you might end up with glare. It won't cost you much to find out. If you don't like the results you can replace the lens.
If you do a search you'll find videos showing how to replace the lens

Don't call him a dummy!

Talk to a watch repairman. Ask him to look at it and give you an answer of weather he can do it, according to the limits of his polishing equipment. If yes, it should be inexpensive. Take a picture, or many after. Then if you feel the polishing didn't solve everything, then break the seal and get the sapphire replaced.
Good luck
