No, but it never hurts to back up your SD card periodically, they tend to go bad or get corrupted pretty easily. For pictures, a cute feature of Google+ is that it will upload your pictures to your Google+ account automatically - very nice protection if you're like me and don't move them to your PC as often as I should.
