SD Card Encryption

Coming from a BlackBerry, I felt secure with some personal files on my phone because I could easily encrypt the entire SD card making it only readable by the phone. The phone was then password protected...

How can I securely store a pretty sensitive file on my phone? I'm using Gingerbread, but ICS should be out soon for my phone. So for those that have ICS, what are the encryption features like? If not that great, what other solutions are out there to keep my phone's files secure?

Right now I only have a 8 digit pin protecting it on the lock screen.

Thanks.

EDIT: Keep in mind, the files in question aren't files that I need to be able to access myself all the time either. These files have some information on them that I may need at some point as a last resort in case of a crappy situation

Um...wow, nevermind...I'm just going to get the Galaxy S3 later this month. Hopefully AT&T releases it.
