SD card issue

I just got the s3 and so far so good except for the SD card. I'm using the SD card I had in my previous phone (dinc). the S3 doesn't recognize the SD card. When I use the app2SD app it says that there is no SD card to transfer apps. But the astro file manager recognizes the SD card. Should I reformat the SD card?

apps2sd does not work. Apps will not go into the sd card they go into the internal memory. however to get things into the sd card go to ''my files'' where all your apps are. Then move everything you want from the sd card to the ext sd card
