SD card problem with the S3

I recently bought a 32GB Samsung Class 10 microSD card. I put it into the phone and I get this notification: "SD card blank or has unsupported filesystem".

I know for a fact that the card works - checked it on a PC and a friend's blackberry and works just fine. I have reformatted the card numerous times (to every possible filesystem) on the phone and a PC and still get this error.

I also tried putting in my friend's Sandisk microSD card in and the GS3 gave me the same message. At this point I think it's the phone but I'm past my 30 day exchange period with ATT. Any suggestions to fix this problem?

Try using a SanDisk MicroSDHC card...you could return the Samsung one and try that, its the one I am using now

Also just for trying sake, you can try putting it in and formatting it from the phone
 
put the card in. go to storage settings and format it in the phone.
should work mate :)

p.s, op, the s3 has a habit of "frying" sd cards but samsung wont take any responsibility if theyre not samsung branded.
would be kinda funny (not at your expense) if samsung cards dont work in it lol ;)

See my post, tried a Sandisk one, the phone would not mount it properly.

I know for a fact the card is not fried, it works just fine in other devices and I can go back and forth between the phone and the PC, the phone gives me the error each time though. Is there some software fix or do I need to get a new phone (really don't want to do that)? I won't be able to visit an ATT store till the weekend anyways.
 
Interesting note about the S3 being in the habit of frying cards, I'm glad I paid the extra $4 for 3 year in-store replacement warranty. I'm currently using a Patriot Class 10, and seems to be holding up well for the last 2 weeks I've had it.
 
yeah my sandisk ultra is ok so far. seems like a random thing?

Same thing happened to me once. I tried to access the sd card on my phone and it froze. After a few seconds it said 'blank sd card'. I took it out and checked it on my laptop and it worked just fine there. When I put it back into my S3, everything was back to normal. Weird :|.
 
Been using a 32gb SanDisk for over a month now with no issues. I always backup to drop box just in case though

My phone seems to have issues with class 10 sd cards, i changed to lower class and had no problems at all with any of them.

well i had my old class4 in mine for like the 1st 4months with no problem lol.
maybe sammy are on a mission to destroy high-end sd cards ;)

I had a sandisk class 10 micro sd card. Got fried in S3 International. Called sandisk and they told me, all s3's have problems with class 10 cards. They replaced it with a new one. Just got it. But haven't tried it yet. Samsung should come out with a patch for class 10 cards. Hope JB fixes it.
 
Yes the real issue is class 10. I just changed from a class 6 to a class 10 and this is when all my problems started. I do not recommend class 10 cards in the S3.
 
a high end phone that cant handle high end flash memory lol!
samsung should have put a non-universal sd slot on the s3 for their own cards that DO work lol. its rediculous them saying they wont replace cards from other manufacturers when its an industry standard..

Have been using Sandisk Class 10 64G since SIII came out this summer. No problems so far. Didn't format it. Just popped it in & started using it.

I've a S3 having the same problem after changing my SD card to SanDisk 16G class 10. Tried to find a solution from various forums but no luck. Eventually I found my problem was caused by the mechanical spring device in the SD card adapter. There are 2 fine spring mechanisms in the card adapter which are required to hold the SD card in its proper position. These mechanisms would have been forced into a wrong position during changing of the new card. The card was then not connecting to the phone properly. I used a fine needle to prick these spring mechanisms back to their correct position. I hope my solution is help to some of you.

Have been using Sandisk Class 10 64G since SIII came out this summer. No problems so far. Didn't format it. Just popped it in & started using it.

I also have a 64g SDXC. I took the battery out before installing it
