SD Card required for dual booting ROMs?

Hello,

I'm not sure how I would search for this so I figured I'd just ask.

Is an SD card necessary for having multiple ROMs installed? I don't have one yet but like the idea of trying out multiple ROMs without uninstalling/reinstalling in order to do so. I see Boot Manager allows up to 5.

Is an SD card necessary for using alternate ROMs anyway?
