Hello, first post and probably a very, very basic question for most of you. Sorry, I'm new to all of this. I have an LG Gpad 8.3 and its running on kitkat. I purchased a 32GB SD card to store some movies on so my son can watch them on our trip. I purchased a samsung 32GB SDHC card. I was under the impression that the HC was just for high capacity and that it would work in my device. I did not format it as I dont have a micro sd to sd card adapter. (have to stop on the way home today and get one). I popped it into my tablet and it recognized it. I actually saved a few pictures and one movie to it to make sure it was going to work. I set it up to transfer about 8 movies from my mac using the android file transfer client. It was all going smooth with only about 2 movies left when the card suddenly became "unmounted" and now it no longer will see it. Is the card toast? I guess Im asking

1) if the MSDHC card is even compatible with my device as it doesnt say that anywhere, just microsd.
2)do I need to reformat it with a windows computer to a fat 32 file system and start over
3) did I kill the card by trying to transfer too much at once..(ie large files that would have taken about 1.5 hrs to transfer

thanks so much for any help, even if its elementary for most of you I'm sure.

Welcome to the forums. I would reformat it but in the device. Then, try again, but adding files in smaller batches. Most cards do have a writing limit at any given time.

How exactly do I reformat it in the device? I can take the card out, reboot the tablet etc and it will never acknowledge its even in there. Do I need a special program to do this?

No special app or program. Try going into Settings>Storage and see if format SD card is highlighted. If not, you will probably have to do it via PC. (Sorry for not being clear with my other post).

It's no problem, I appreciate your response. I will stop and get an adapter today to see what I come up with if all else fails.

The card, for whatever reason, is dead. I got an adapter and atempted to reformat it with two different computers. No luck. It would not even acknowledge there was a drive hooked up. I purchased another card while I was at the store just in case. I installed it and it is working fine. I guess I got a lemon with the first one. The card was a samsung pro class 10 card. Who knows. Thanks for everyones help.
