"Searching for GPS" ... STILL no solution?

My D3 can be "Searching for GPS" until the battery runs out and never find it. The map comes up with a location somehow, though it is sometimes inaccurate.

After a LOT of searching on the net yesterday, I came across one solution - take the battery out, count to ten, then replace it. I tried that and it worked. Although my D3 can still connect to GPS this morning, the author of the thread I found wrote that he had to take the battery out more often than not to "reset" his GPS.

Any thoughts on this? Though this fix "works" ... having to take the battery out to use a phone feature is a fail IMO. Searching this forum I couldn't find a thread more recent than 2-3 months ago.

Thanks!

Here's an update, I have not had a failure of GPS in about 3 days by doing the following:

1) ALWAYS turning on the THREE location services options BEFORE hitting the "Navigation" icon.

So far, so good - no more having to take the battery out any more!

(Speaking of batteries, gotta make sure to turn the location settings OFF after finishing with GPS - they are power suckers!).

Hope this helps someone.

This happened to me once and it was solved with a quick toggling of GPS off and back on again (I leave location services on always, as they are only used when they are actually called for. In other words, turning the GPS radio on does not drain battery until you use an app that calls for GPS location.)
