Security...did I do something wrong

I use Finger Print security but it seems like after a few unlocks the phone makes me use my alternate log in "xxxx required for additional security".
Is this normal or did I change some silly setting by mistake? I've never seen this on any other phone except the first time you log in after a reboot.

This is normal after I believe 5 failed fingerprint attempts

and after every reboot. Encryption requires password to start OS, fingerprints are stored in the encrypted partition.
