Security when using Google Pay on a Smartwatch

Perhaps, a simple question but I cannot find any information.

As I understand it, if you have Google Pay on your smartwatch, you do not need to have your phone available.

This brings up my question, what security is there on the watch? Seems to me that, if the watch is lost, stolen or misplaced, anyone could use it to make purchases,

Am I wrong?

you are wrong ;-) You need a pin number to access google pay on your watch. Once you login, it will stay active until you take the watch off. Once the watch is off, the pin number will be needed again. So if someone steals your watch, unless they know your pin number, they cannot use google pay.

me just saying is correct -- this is the case for Wear OS at least. I would guess that all other smartwatches with payment ability also have a similar requirement.
