I mentioned this in another thread, but I wanted to post this here so people might better see it.

I've been running M since the preview releases, and yes, Doze does an awesome job when it fires. But there's a lot more going on here.... On the previews, I saw a modest bump in my battery performance due to the reduced idle consumption. Less power lost at idle, more gained for screen time... something we ALL want. But I've also been noticing something since I loaded the final, released build of 6.0; everything improved.

Back in May, I wanted to see how far I could do on a full charge... No idle, just stay on the thing until it hits E. That magic number was pretty much 6:00 on the nose. It hit 6h, touched 5% then warned me it was shutting down. So that was pretty much my max... 6 hours. Not bad since I am never usually on my phone for that much on any given day.

Within a day or so of loading 6.0, I noticed a sizable bump in my battery life... about 12 hours off the charger, I was at 50% and showing a good 3:44 SOT. My internal calculator rang some alarms and I went back and found a GSAM snapshot of nearly the same point during that 5.1.1 6 hour endurance run... Now, my usage on these two occasions was pretty much exactly the same... On a group Hangout, G+, some forums, some web. No games, GPS work, etc. Just 'wastin' time' mode. It was night both times, so the screen was maybe at 1/3 or so both instances.

The difference is pretty striking. On 6.0, I'm 50 minutes ahead of where I was on 5.1.1. In and of itself, that's a good bump. But when you factor in that this also came over an additional 8 hours of time. Safe to say that Google had some last minute power fixin hidden up their sleeves...
