On my notification screen I constantly see "Select input method". What does this mean and why does it keep popping up?

It is keyboard related. Do you have multiple keyboards downloaded and checked? I know that the notification stays there when the keyboard is present and in use. Should be nothing to worry about.

I don't think I have multiple keyboards but this is my first Android device just coming over from iPhone 4s. Wasn't sure what it was for.

Cool, that's fine. It is a constant notification for those that need to switch keyboards quickly. I think it was 4.0 that introduced this.

Nothing to worry about since it goes away on its own once the keyboard disappears.

Help, same issue. It does NOT go away. Goes away when using keyboard but that damn notification pops right back up on my HTC One (KitKat 4.4.2) - anyone have an idea how to make this disappear?

If you click on it while the keyboard is open, it wil give you a few choices for a keyboard. Click on the bottom where it says "setup input methods" you should see a few keyboard types... Samsung keyboard, swype, Google voice typing, and any others downloaded such as SwiftKey, SwiftKey beta. If you click on the settings gear to the right of them, you have further control of what you want each keyboard to do.
