My phone is running Marshmallow. For most friends and contacts, I call and text using my regular carrier phone number and the standard dialer and Messenger app. However, there are some cases where I don't want people to know my main phone number- so I also have a Google Voice number.
For voice calls, I use the Hangouts Dialer app and that allows me to easily and clearly keep my carrier number calls and Google Voice number calls separate. Can someone suggest the easiest way to do the same thing with text messages? I want to keep using Messenger with my carrier number as usual, but I want a way to text selected contacts using my Google Voice number.
I understand that I might be able to do this with the Google Voice App and / or Hangouts- but I don't want those apps to take over all of the calling and texting functions on my phone. Thanks for any other advice or guidance in using these Apps.
