Hey guys,

I'm going to go through the process of selling my Nexus 7, and I just want to know what would be the most secure way of wiping the device of all data that is tied to me/apps that I've downloaded. I know a factory reset will do just that, but if I can recall, it will leave folders in the file system that pertain to previously downloaded apps. Is this correct? Or is there a way to do a more secure wipe to factory settings?

And is there anything else I should do before selling the device to someone I know?

Don't worry, I'll be back in the Nexus family soon :)

You can remove your Google account from the device under settings, do the factory reset and remove the folders, etc on your internal storage. Android will automatically repopulate whatever folders is needed when the apps are accessed.

or... You could unlock the bootloader, which WIPES EVERYTHING then turn right around and lock it back up.

Finally after you do the above just don't log back into your Google account when you power it back up and all will be good.

factory reset from recovery.
or unlock bootloader that would wipe every data. make sure to to lock it again.

connect device to PC and if there is no data there then its pretty much safe.

Just factory reset. Shouldn't have to mess with Recovery if you don't want to learn that.
