Sending an attachment via text message doesn't work after last Samsung Android update

I have a Samsung J7. I used to be able to just choose a picture or document from my files, select share and just sent via text message. Now after the last "system" update no option for text message comes up. Samsung says it allows you to send links to documents but then asks to send my contacts info to Samsung in order to send links via their "social" network. I just want to send a document to one person via text message and want to know why I can't do this.
