Sending back a Pixel2 with incidental cracked screen

Nope. They charge a huge fee for replacing the screen first. When my iphone 4 needed replacing under warranty, my husband broke the screen. They charged £162 for the screen before fixing the phone. This was in 2011 or thereabouts.

Actually it can vary, depends on if you have Apple Care or not, plus the rep that you deal with MAY take pity on you. Generally screen damage is not covered, or will incur an extra charge, but Apple CAN authorize a replacement IF they want to. I had this happen. My iPad Pro screen suddenly had an inkspot one day. I left my office and it was fine, I come back and see the spot. Did someone come in to my office (say to leave a phone message) and accidently drop something on it? Did I accidently drop something on it? Anyways I went to the Apple store and was completely honest, and guess what? They replaced my iPad Pro, without charge. The guy hinted at, that it was, as he called it, "an alternate warranty replacement" I got the impression it was a 1 time thing. So I immediately bought a smart cover! lol

I am in the same situation, charging stopped working yesterday. Google did a RMA, but i have a cracked screen for more than 6 months.

So what is the consensus on this

Should i get it fixed from UBreakIFix before sending mine back? Getting it repaired from them should not void the warrany?

se that's an authorized repair center - but that's entirely up to Google's claims department.

Thanks for clarifying. Also do you know if they deny the claim, can i send the new phone back to google get my old one back ? As i don't want to spend $850 they are holding for a refurbished pixel 2 xl. i am sure i can get the charging port fixed for $100 or so.

If you're going to all the trouble of getting the screen replaced, which requires them to open the phone, why not just get the charging port replaced?

This would make sense to me too. Then you don't risk getting a refurb phone for your originally brand new one.

I think that question might be best answered by Google.

I sent mine back for a faulty speaker with a cracked screen and they aren't me a new (refurbished) 2xl without charging me for the screen.

Boy, if you HAVE to get the screen replaced anyway, I'd sure just go ahead and replace the charging port at the same time ... no hassle waiting for shipped items, no credit hold on your money, and no refurbished phone.
