When reading the instructions on sending pics via email, one of the steps is to select the photo size. I am not provided with this option. Is there a setting I have changed? I'm sure I saw it at one point. Did a recent update change this. I keep getting a 'failed' message. This is very annoying. How do I resize a photo for sending?

Email messages (message content and attachment(s) combined) have a size limit. Often 20 or 25 MB. So if your message is greater than that the email message will not be sent.
Try making your email message (attachment) smaller.
Since very few single photo files are larger than 20 MB chances are you're trying to send too many photos in that one email message (adding up to more than the max email message size limit). So break it up into multiple email messages.

If you want to send messages larger than that size limit you will need to use another file transfer protocol instead of email. Like the free IM app Telegram or a cloud like Dropbox or MEGA.

No needed worry about the size unless you need to. There are also plenty of apps available in the Play Store to resize photos if needed.

Thanks but neither one of you answered my question. The photos are less than 3 mg and still getting the error. The question is why I am not being asked if I want to change the photo size?

Which email client are you using to send the photo? Also, what email service do you have?

If you can also refer us to the instructions you are following we can try and figure out what the problem could be. I've never had an issue sending images 3MB or larger through email, so I'm a bit confused as to what the problem could be.

Well, maybe, probably, that's just not a feature of your email app? Maybe your email app doesn't recognize that it's a photo that you're sending. As opposed to any other of hundreds of thousands of kinds and types of files possible. In geek speak email apps are file type agnostic, afaik. Designed to be.

OTOH, if it's e.g. super hardcore porn and your carrier cooperates with a moralistic big brother – what do you think? – then it could simply be a crude, 'leaky' censorship filter doing a bad job by betraying its presence and activity...

In short, at this point, anything is still possibly a cause for your distress. We have to rule possibilities out based on your input, your information about the situation. Which hasn't exactly been comprehensive, sofar, as srkmagnus already spotted.
