Sending sms or mms to email not working??

So i am unable to send an sms or mms to an email address? I tried over wifi and 3g using handcent and the message never sends. Is anybody else able to send an mms or sms to an email address?

I didn't try an MMS but I had no problems sending a SMS to my gmail account.

Thanks. It appears to be an issue with handcent as they work fine through the stock app.
