Sensation missing/black notification icon

Recently updated my sensation to ics. Everything was fine but today after an application update to Google+ and lookout security, there was a space occurring to the left of my notification bar where the notifications for some of my other apps would usually occur so it looked like there was an empty space to the left before my first app notification (all my app notifications shifted over to the right by one space you can say). Do you guys know how to fix this? I have before and after pics which I will upload in a bit

I just had this exact same thing happen on my Nexus S recently upgraded to Jelly Bean.. pretty sure it's the USB storage icon which normally shows for a few sec on startup and disappears, but it just leaves the space blank and my next icon (showing battery life) stays where it is. anyone find a solution?
