Just saw the hands on review of the new HTC EVO 3D. It has Gingerbread and Sense 3.0. I'm still on the fence about which 4G phone I will ultimately get. I have the Droid X now. Gingerbread breathed new life into my Droid X. But looking at the EVO 3D review, if I new that the Thunderbolt would get Gingerbread (pretty much a sure thing) along with the new Sense 3.0, I think my mind would probably be made up instantly. Getting tired of waiting for the Bionic. Too many unknowns!

It's suppose to get Sense 2.1, which integrates SOME things from 3.0 and 2.0 together. The ring lock is there, with the selection of apps from the lock screen, and some HTC Hub stuff. It won't have the homescreen carousel or the continuous homescreen scrolling.

Yeah, I don't think the Thunderbolt will get Sense 3.0, but I could be wrong.

I thought I would ask because going from Froyo to Gingerbread on my Droid X the UI changed significantly. Don't know if that was primarily due to Gingerbread or a combo of Gingerbead and Motoblur changes. End the long run it was much better in my opinion.

The Sense 3.0 on the EVO 3D is just plain awesome. Maybe they will show some love to its Thunderbolt predecessor.

Oh, I use the Sense 3 preview already, I'm talking about the official release ;-)

Its always possible with devs haha just be nice for people who dont like to root to have these options

Meh, rooting this isn't exactly for the faint of heart. I've rooted a lot of phones (DX, Fascinate, OG Droid, Droid Inc, mainly Verizon phones) and this one still took me an hour to get it done. although, I use Linux and didn't even try the Windows "easy root" script available. May make it more desirable. Bus ome people just don't like to root their phone, and that's fine.

Anyways, back on topic. Looks like it's been confirmed by Droid-Life via Twitter that we won't see 3.0 officially released on the Thunderbolt because it's missing the hardware for some of the features:
HTC Thunderbolt Won’t See New HTC Sense 3.0 (Updated) - Droid Life: A Droid Community Blog
I call B.S. mainly because I'm using Sense 3.0 on my TBolt via a custom ROM, but that won't change anything for the official release.

Guys no, the version of Sense that the Thunderbolt is officially getting is 2.1 which is the same as the Droid Incredible 2. There is no ring lockscreen or any of the cool 3.0 features. Just the same app drawer. I think AC has an article where they said that HTC announced that the thunderbolt would not get the new sense. I'll post it when I find it but I'll encourage anybody to post a link before me if they find it first.

Blast on the no ring. I'm all rooted and when I had a 2.1 Sense ROM, it had the ring, but it was probably just because the creator wanted the ring there. Went to a Sense 3.0 ROM, but it actually killed my battery SO QUICKLY that I switched back (running DasBAMF 2.0beta6). Oh well, I'm sorry for the wrong information.

Where is teh thread that has sense 3.0? I have das bamf 1.7 but that didnt come with new sense

bamf 1.7 is froyo, you need bamf 3.0 preview (which is gingerbread) for those things
i know theres a thread on xda
