I'm sure this is been asked before but I'm currently runng the trickdroid ROM (sense 5 4.2.2) and I'm wondering if you all think I should keep it or flash the 4.3 GPE rom and tell me why??

Thanks in advance.

Just got my HTC One 2 Days ago and IMMEDIATELY flashed the 4.3 GPE Stock ROM.

It's all based on personal preference, so I will give you my thoughts.

AOSP feels so much snappier to me and I really like being able to fully customize any and all aspects of my phone with out Manufacturer skins getting in the way. I had and S3 and touchwiz was absolutely abysmal. It lagged, and the interface looked very ugly to me. Sense 5 looks great, don't get me wrong, but I don't like all the HTC and Carrier bloatware clogging up my phone and hogging resources that could be best used for keeping my interface lag free. Granted, 4.3 GPE ROMs for the HTC One don't have that many mods and things available to them yet (I tried getting MoDaCo to work but I couldn't, same with the Xposed Framework) but in no time I am sure that 4.3 GPE will have all the mods and themes available to them that 4.2.2 and lower have. (You could make the argument that there are custom ROMs with baked in features, but I prefer as much a stock experience as possible with a few mods in place.)

tl;dr AOSP is faster imho. It looks prettier too and allows me to fully customize any and all aspects of the device without manufacturer skins getting in the way.

I'm in the same dilemma. I currently have sentinel v3 Rom which is a 4.2.2. I noticed that trick droid has an updated 4.3 version. Should I or shouldn't I. I'm pretty satisfied with the functioning of my sentinel v3, and for me to flash another Rom I'm looking at one day work getting all my app on.

I don't know if I should just wait. The sentinel cook is working on android 4.3 version but currently not stable. I can wait I guess but my flashaholic side keeps telling me to flash the newest one.

Sad I know....

Good luck, and nice question thread.

Exactly. I hate flashing a new rom omly to have to reinstall everything lol

Anyway thanks so much for the replies but after trying the 4.3 rom (despite how amazing the UI is) I'm going to stick with trickdroid. I just can't give up things like the robust camera app, the amazing music app (love the find album artwork feature), the ease of blocking a contact, the way the app drawer scrolls vertically instead of horizontally (which works a hell of a lot better with one handed use) etc... Not to mention the fact the sense 5 adds nothing extra to vanilla android that I would deem unuseful/gimmicky except maybe Zoe/highlights (in my own opinion).

Always make a back up of your current Rom before flashing. If you don't like it just restore the back up and it's like you never even left. I switch between Android Revolution and CM10. I think going to try the GPE. :-)
