Have you rooted or unlocked the bootloader at anytime? If so, then that may be the problem.

Aside from a factory reset, did HTC suggest anything else?

It's running kikkat 4.4.2 , they asked for the imei num and said the phone is originally from hongkong region ! I had the phone as a insurance replacement and would try and keep it now and try to sort it some how . Can i tell some how if it's been rooted or if boot loader has opened ? Many thanks

You can check in the bootloader. Turn off the phone, then hold power+vol down to boot into bootloader. To know if the phone was previously unlocked, it will say "relocked" at the top. If it is unlocked, it will say "unlocked". If neither, it will say "locked" which is by default.

If the phone was modified in any way, it will also say "tampered" below it.

After that, you can just reboot the phone to boot back up.

Yes it says "relocked" so if I reboot to boot will this solve the problem or will I need to do something else ? Many thanks
