Ever since yesterday, I have been having major issues with Sense shutting down. I keep getting the message about it forcing close or to wait. I haven't installed any apps lately, but decided to uninstall some anyway just to be safe. If anything, it's worse! I was viewing the video about how to uninstall Sense, and when it got to the part about clicking on the "clear defaults" tab, it's in grey and won't allow me to clear defaults. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

You can't turn sense off. You may want to try a fulll reset and see if you're having the same issues.

When do you get the force close message, just randomly or when you do certain things?

It's gotten to the point where i'm constantly getting that message. The screen lags and the buttons and widgets are very unresponsive. Very annoying. I guess I should have said that I want to disable Sense and use the stock Android launcher. I followed the steps on the video, but am unable to click on the "clear defaults" tab.

Try to go into settings > system updates > update profile.
Because I was getting that a lot with random applications that weren't 3rd party. I did the update profile and it fixed it.

Still getting the "sorry! HTC Sense has stopped unexpectedly" I hit the home button and it takes a good ten seconds to go back there. If I do a hard reset, will I lose all my contacts and saved data?

I'm assuming you tried rebooting the device.

What else have you installed lately. A conflict with some other software is the most likely cause of this. If you can't fix it any other way, a hard reset may be your only option.

FYI, the instructions to turn off Sense only worked on the pre-Update version of the Evo. If you have the most recent firmware (July 16th, I think) you can no longer turn Sense off.

Try turning Sense off at the Apps Management, to revert to stock Android. Reset and then trun Sense UI back on by holding down home button and chosing Sense.

Yes sir, I did the reboot. I can't think of anything I installed recently. As I stated earlier, I even uninstalled some apps just to be on the safe side. I appreciate all the suggestions, and am open to anything else you guys can think of.

You won't lose your contacts if you have them saved with your gmail account. Basic data will go away. And as for apps, it will only save you purchased apps. Make sure you take out your SD card before it tho. It will erase everything on it if you don't.

To turn off Sense, hold down the menu button, go to Settings, Applications, Manage Applications. Find "HTC Sense" and press it. In the following screen, press clear defaults then press force stop and ok. Next choose launcher and hit the home button. you should now have original stock android.

You're right as far as disabling it after the latest update. I was just curious as to weather there was another way to turn Sense off. Also, whatever is causing this is causing my battery to drain very fast.

Maybe. Perhaps an app may be interfering with Sense somehow. Give it a shot. BTW, sorry about turning off Sense, I havent updated my phone yet. Give ATK a go.
