Sense Reboots: Tried Launcher Pro and...

Hi all,

I've been on a quest to try to solve the random UI reboots. This week I purchased the Launcher Pro on the Market and it seems to have the same amount of reboots as Sense UI. I've read all the praises that users have given LP so I decided to give it a try. I really like it but the reboots are getting on my nerves.

Am I doing something wrong?

I unchecked the Fast Boot and no improvements. I've reset my device several times and yet again no changes.

Is rooting the only solution?

Bottom line for me is: THE UI REBOOTS ARE GETTING ON MY NERVES!!!

I'm sorry if this seems like a duplicate thread. But I'm trying to solve my problem and have not found an answer.

Sounds like you my have both launchers running at the same time. I'm rooted. I had to freeze on of the launchers using an app.

Yeah i had the same force close when my phone was running sense ui & launcher simultaneously. My only fix was to force close it from the applications directory in my settings. Gave me a good enough fix for that. Also i was running HomeControl to do the switch from launchers. Did you clear the defaults on the sense ui? Also doing that works. But rooting wont solve your problems on that level. The launcher force closing is just because ur phone is running both of them at the same time. Its good to have that app since it tells you if sense is currently running or not as well as your other launchers. Also just clear the defaults on sense & make launcher pro as your default & you should be set.

@eldub1 @vulcan001 thanks for the tips and help. I force stop the sense UI and clear the data on it and so far so good. It seems like it solved my problem. Question: do I have to force stop it every time I restart my phone?

From what i remember i didnt have to force stop it when i rebooted. But i may be wrong about that? Just in case check HomeControl to see if its running when u reboot ur phone just to be sure that it isnt running simultaneously with the launcher. Glad to be of help bro.

I was over at the Evo Shift forum a few days ago because my wifes phone (a shift) was having the same problem as my Evo4G. The sense reboots were just horrible and really started to get annoying when youre in the middle of something important and u have to wait 30 secs...awful. Anyway....there were several people praising the Go Launcher EX. Its free and is absolutely awesome! Not one reboot since i installed and the interface is nicer than Sense. It has definitely helped me out and saved my phone from getting smashed lol

I tried GLE but i just dont like it. The interface just isnt good enough. I like the clean LP interface with the dock preferably. The only difference from what i remember with it was that it was easy to switch in n out from it & lots of themes but the themes for it isnt enough. From my view LP is better compared to GLE & ADW. Ive used ADW since its the stock launcher that comes preloaded on CM7.

***Update*** Had to uninstall Launcher Pro because it started acting up again with the reboots. I installed GO Launcher, which is working OK, not perfect but is better than what I had. Wish I could use Sense but the reboots are just too annoying.
