The #Nexus 6 has a string of #sensors: #GPS, #Accelerometer, #Gyroscope, #Magnetometer, Ambient light sensor, and #Barometer. There's two on that list that have me a little confused on their use, the magnetometer and barometer. Any one have and idea for there use? And by the way, I really did do a search through past threads w/any info before I posted so if I'm duplicating, I'm sorry. Thanks.

The magnetometer can measure magnetic fields. A practical application for that is for use as a compass. The barometer measures atmospheric pressure. A practical application for that is to determine altitude.

The barometer is common in most smartphone nowadays, it debuted in the Galaxy Nexus smartphone and it's main use is to assist with GPS location. It allows the device to get a faster lock onto GPS since it can use the altitude provided by the barometer to more accurately determine your location.
