Serious bug found in 5.0.1

Now I have a follow-up question. So it seems the fixes for these issues are only available to those who have rooted their phones. How far behind would you estimate Google to be getting out these fixes to stock Android users?

So how much credit should Google give to the developers at XDA for helping them to narrow down the source of problems and come up with a fix?

Well.... the memory leak thing was fixed by Google, not XDA.... as for the reboot issue, I am not sure what is going on with that. I do know that on 5 and 5.0.1, I had a couple of reboots out of the blue, even on stock. And at 5.0.2, I have yet to see a single reboot that I can't explain. The stuff I saw from the kernel dev was before the 5.0.2 stuff made it into a bunch of shamu builds.... so those issues might have been addressed as well.

As to the time frame..... who knows? I would assume that the Nexus 6 would get 5.0.2 at some point. But your guess is as good as mine. I can only assume it'll be sooner rather than later since other devices have 5.0.2.... then again, Google might be addressing some stuff with the Nexus 6, so the official OTA might be getting held back.

Thanks for the answer and for clearing up how the memory leak was fixed. However, Google has not yet provided an OTA fix for the memory leak, right? So it's still only available to those who have rooted their phone?

Heh...

Guess its not fixed.... I talked to some ROM devs I know and Google hasn't pushed an official fix for that issue yet, so whatever memory leak is fixed, this ain't it.
