Hello, I'm using Android 8 on my Sony Xperia XZ1.
How can I set the SD card as the default installation location for all apps I will install soon?
Thanks and see you soon

You can't, apps will only initially install to internal storage. You may or may not be able to move part of them once installed.

Great. I just received my 128Gb SD card on which I intended to install large apps. What's the use of an SD card? only for photos and videos?

Phones are beginning to use the UFS 2.x which translates to 700MB/s vs 90MB reads on SD which you will notice for those large apps, but not for media files.

In real life the internal storage ramps upto 520 mbps.but same in class 10 SD cards is 70mbps if u r lucky.i think u know by now why Google doesn't want to install apps on SD

OK you have convinced me. Perhaps that's why I was finding some apps to start slowly on my windows phone.
But it would be nice to have parts of some apps stored on the SD. For example : GPS apps could have their maps on the SD card.
