Setcpu for charge?

The battery life on this phone id the worse I've ever had, lucky if I get 6 hours on it. On previous phones I used setcpu to underclock when not in use and that helped battery life. I'm wondering if setcpu can be used with the charge?

yes with a kernel that supports it

EDIT: When I had my Charge, I used IMNUTS kernels and they preformed well. I know he put out a new version awhile back so I am guessing it is quite improved...
