SetCPU - Good profiles to use as starting point?

I know advanced users will tune SetCPU to their individual needs (whether higher performance or battery saving). But are there good starting point profiles for novice users who are looking to achieve a "better than stock" optimal balance - better performance* than stock when actively being used, and better battery life than stock when not being used?

*assumes custom ROM being used for overclocking, and actual overclock will vary from phone to phone.

I have mine set to overclock as high as it can go when the screen is on and at 245 when the screen is off. That way it can tap into the horsepower when it needs it and basically shut off when the screen goes off.

Those are the only 2 profiles I have as well so far...

1. highest overclock/245 as default
2. 245/245 with screen off as 100 priority

I haven't worked out the Charging (and how "Charging" is different than "Charging AC"/"Charging USB"...can the 3 be used simultaneously?), temp, and battery profiles yet.

Then there's interactive vs. on-demand. And all the settings on the "Advanced" page:

Sampling Rate (what's stock?)
Up Threshold (what's stock?)
Ignore Nice Load
Powersave Bias

Charging 600/600 100 priority (performance) keep temps down during charge
Charging USB 600/600 90 priority (performance) keep temps down during charge
Screen Off - 320/245 80 priority (on demand) afraid to go much lower, as it might not wake up soon enough for calls
Battery <30% 480/245 70 Priority (conservative)

That's all I got.

If you are using some of the ROMs you can find here, you don't even need setCPU. CM7 for instance has it built in, though there are no profiles to set, just the governor and high/low speeds. But it works fine for me, set to interactive and 245/787.

How does locking the phone at a fixed high speed keep temps down during charging? I would think it would make temps higher and make it take longer to recharge than if you let it drop to 245Mhz when idle.

Would this apply to the "Stock ROM + Xionia kernel (beta 2)" ROM as well?

And why interactive instead of on-demand?

That's actually a typo on my end. it's actually 245/600 (not sure what I was thinking). The point is to not overclock during charge.

600/245 default (interactive)
825/245 when I game (on demand)
245/122 screen off (conservative) Never had issues with it waking up

That rom is stock.
So in a nut shell there is not an onboard cpu setting like there is for other romz (as in CM7).

UPDATE: if you ever have lag issues make sure the setCPU widget is not on your home screen.
Some users have reported issues when the widget is enabled
