Setting a Wallpaper on the Droid Captivate.

It is kind of dumb, that for how awesome this phone is, it can fit/size a picture correctly for a wallpaper. No matter how I try and crop it or resize it, nothing seems to work correctly. It either zooms in to much and you can't tell what you're looking at and sometimes I can crop it to where it looks ok when the phone is in landscape, but not when in portrait.

So my question is, is there an app that will specifically set a gallery image to a wallpaper, that works? Or does anyone know the ideal sizing for a wallpaper image for the cappy? Or any other ideas, tips, or tricks are welcome!
Thanks in Advance!

For the cappy it's 960x800 and that is for portrait, landscape will look different because the screen rotates but the picture doesn't change aspect ratio. Then again if you are just doing colorful designs it won't matter.

The only tip I can give you is if you draw/render your image with a 1/8 inch border you wont lose anything.

The reason it does not center the wallpaper like you probably expect, is due to the multiple home screens. I think Launcher pro (others too) can force center the wallpaper so it will not move. Probably get more what you are looking for this way.

It is not a bug, but a feature :). All android phones work this way, so far as I know.

EDIT- Besides, once you get things setup, the wallpaper will be obstructed by widgets and shortcuts... don't spend TOO much time on that ;).

I understand that about the multiple home screens, but I just want one image, to look the same on each screen. I'll have to see if ADWLauncher is causing the problem. Never really consider it would be the launcher.

I did find a program that would allow me to set it as a wallpaper and @the3dgm, it looks like all it did was exactly what you said and it fits perfectly. In both portrait/landscaped as well!
