I made an appointment using OK Google and it saved it on Samsung calendar. I want Google Calendar to be my default calendar. I can't figure out how to accomplish this. When I go into settings, default apps, Google Calendar SetAsDefault is grayed out.

I turned off my Samsung account calendars. I hope this screen shot helps you out.

Check out the screenshot, disable the stock Samsung Calendar. Then install the Google Calendar. Then settings>apps, three dots up right the screen>default apps and select the Google Calendar as your default Calendar. Perhaps you don't need to disable the stock Samsung Calendar at all, I 'm not sure.

Yes, I bought it few days after I got my S8+. Before that, on my former S6, I used this one(screenshot). I don't use it anymore, not as complete as the current one.

I never ever root, flash, nothing of that sort, my formers Android phones. Not even my very past Google Nexus 5 or my Pixel XL (sleeping in it's box after I bought the S8+).The app really works with bloatware.

I don't see any screenshots. What app are you guys using to disable the Samsung Calendar?

You guys do realize that Samsung Calendar is just a front end. You don't even need to disable it if you want to use the Google Calendar app (not even sure if you're allowed to disable it. You can turn off notifications though). If you have Google Calendar and Samsung Calendar on the same phone, they'll show you the same calendar and alert you of the same things. They're like 2 different doors leading to the same room. If you setup Samsung Calendar to be syncing to Google Calendar, then it will be syncing to Google Calendar.
I'm actually using Samsung Calendar on the phone since it follows the theme, having it sync to my Google Calendar so. I can view it on the web, which in turn is syncing to the Windows Calendar app on my laptop, and I'm using the Any.do widget to display my tasks and events from my Google Calendar syncing to the Samsung Calendar on my tablet. And it all works seamlessly because all of this are just a front end and they're all using the same data from Google Calendar.
