setting for auto opening email photos

Is there a setting or app for automatically opening photos in emails? Most of the time I just get little blue boxes, then can manually open them at the bottom of the email (sometimes). At other times I can't get them to open. Is this something to do with Adobe. I' running 2.1, will this change if we ever get 2.2. This is some of the reason I left BB, waiting, then getting bad OS upgrades. Thanks for any imput
