Setting Up eSIM as new T-Mobile Customer

I have factory unlocked N20U on Verizon but purchased a new T-Mobile plan online and got my SIM card today.

I think my phone has one physical SIM card slot and the second slot is micro SD. Does anyone know if this update will allow for two physical SIM cards if I switch trays? Or do I activate T-Mobile service by swapping VZW to T-Mobile SIM, activate service and get software update to enable dual SIM/eSIM and convert the physical SIM to eSIM? And then I should be able to put my physical VZW SIM back in?

T-Mobile isn't yet versed on handling this yet for the N20U.

Unless you bought an international 2-sim model, the hardware to have a second physical SIM card isn't there. If you receive the April update (as in OS update... it actually still sticks to March security patch), then yes, this enables eSIM capabilities. If you set it up correctly with TMobile, then the phone will be able to use two SIMS: one electronically (Main line) and a second line with the physical SIM card.

What's your model number ? Can check settings>about phone under your phone number , if it unlocked version you won't get this unless you flash to tmobile carrier firmware.

I have been looking to see if that is official everywhere. Not questioning you, but is that 100%? I have the factory unlocked version that I am using on T-Mobile and want to use eSIM. Thanks!

My phone is a SM-986U1 unlocked/non-carrier direct from Samsung. So you are saying unlocked N20Us won't work with eSIM?

I really don't want to flash my phone. I think I will just try forwarding my VZW phone number to the new T-Mobile number and try out the service.

On a side note, is there a way to forward my text messages as well? What about voicemail - since VZW didn't have an app for vm I set up Google Voice and it's been working well but it does require forwarding.
