severe internal damage ?

My galaxy tab 2 started to have a red x while charging via pc after awhile this also happened while on the supplied charger to the point where it would only charge while turned off.
I contacted Samsung as it was (still is) in warranty I sent it to them to be told it had severe internal damage to the usb and wasn't covered under warranty.
I'm a 46 yr and the tablet has never been dropped , banged , knocked or had any other abuse what danbbe done are there others with the same/similar problem.

Were you using the tablet while it was charging on the PC?

Sometimes yes while watching videos and the battery warning appeared but not as a rule .

Please replace "dannbbe" with "can be "

The PC USB port output is nowhere near the same as the charger. It is possible the battery cells became damaged by inadequate charging with high demand use.

I already know that but thanks for the info according to samsung service it has severe internal damage and will cost more then its worth to repair that doesn't sound like a damaged battery the usb is the apparently damaged part I was justbwondering whether anyone else has had a similar problem.

Often times a yank or two a bit hard can cause damage to the micro USB port on the device. That's still not explaining why it only charges when the device is turned off.

Have you done a factory reset? If you haven't, consider it and see if that helps. Otherwise, it might be time to repair or get a replacement. Though you were not planning on spending money to get a new device, the Moto G is up for pre-sale on Amazon and is a great budget phone. Check the AC front page for reviews and further information on the device.
